Four Times of the Day, Evening is the third in a series of four 1757 landscape paintings by French artist Joseph Vernet, depicting different scenes at different times of the day.
The storm and stress of the day have passed, and Vernet presents us with a bathing scene in the gentle light of evening that is in a natural and picturesque landscape. A sense of social togetherness pervades the bathing scene and the classical landscape shows the ease between man and nature.
