Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Lise with Umbrella from 1867 sees a woman shielding her face with a lace parasol.
His model Lise Tréhot is dressed in white which accentuates the sunlight in the forest. Her face, in shade, provides an occasion for Renoir to paint dappled light on her hat, face, and shoulders. It is unknown where the picture is set but it is thought to be either in Fountainebleau forest or in Chantilly.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Lise with Umbrella is in the Museum Folkwang in Essen, Germany.
