Maurice Quentin de La Tour’s Portrait of Gabriel Bernard de Rieux, presented at the Salon of 1741 in France, is of President of the second count of inquiry of the Parliament of Paris, Gabriel Bernard de Riex (1676-1745).
Interestingly the painting is actually made from several pieces of paper mounted onto the canvas itself. It is a very large painting 300cm by 150cm (79 by 59).
