Paul Signac was a prominent member of Post-Impressionism and Two Milliners in the Rue du Caire marks a point before his later experiments in pointillism or dot-painting. His figures and objects here are self-contained and more solid than both Impressionism and pointillism. It was painted in 1886 in Paris and depicts two female workers making hats.
