This painting of Hong Kong from 1900 by Kuroda Seiki seems to be at the intersection of west and east in terms of style. On the one hand the painting is highly impressionistic, with its clouded and merging colours and shades, and on the other hand it belongs to the Asian traditional genre of landscape painting. Just as the forms in the picture seem to dissolve into one another, there is a cultural blend here.
