Camille Pissarro: Woman and Child at the Well

French Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro focused the early stage of his career painting the typical moments of peasant life and the people around him as can be seen in Woman and Child at the Well.

His 1882 painting Woman and Child at the Well (Femme et Enfant au Puirs) is a great example of that. A woman briefly sits against a well either before or after filling the two watering cans on each side of her. A young girl, perhaps her daughter, faces towards her.

Camille Pissarro’s Woman and Child at the Well can be found at the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois.
