As the Old Sing So the Young Pipe is a good-humoured genre scene by Flemish Painter Jacob Jordaens from around 1638-40 where the artist shows us three children playing along to the song of the adults. Humorous too, is the swaddled child on the right using a spoon for a flute in imitation. The presence of the proverbially wise owl seems to say to us that human community is the essence of the good life.
