Arundel Mill and Castle is an 1837 painting by English Romantic landscape artist John Constable. This work is located in the Toledo Museum of Art in Toledo, Ohio.
Arundel Castle is a historic castle located in the town of Arundel in West Sussex, England. It is one of the country’s premier stately homes and has a rich history dating back to the 11th century. The castle was founded at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel, shortly after the Norman Conquest of England. The original structure was a motte-and-bailey castle.
During the English Civil War in the 17th century, Arundel Castle played a significant role. It was besieged twice, first by Parliamentarian forces and later by Royalists. The castle suffered considerable damage during these conflicts.
